  • Public hearing to consider a resolution and an ordinance amending County Code Chapters 13.10 and 13.20 (Local Coastal Program Implementing Ordinances) to create the Seascape Beach Estates (SBE) Combining Zone District, with Zoning Plan Amendment adding 152 parcels to the district, minor variation to PUD/Use Permit 4119-U, and CEQA Notice of Exemption, and take related actions, as outlined in the memorandum of the Planning Director.

State of the San Lorenzo River Symposium

State of the San Lorenzo River Symposium, Saturday, March 23, from 10 am to 1 pm at Louden Nelson Community Center auditorium, 301 Center Street in Santa Cruz. Click HERE for information.

Presented by City of Santa Cruz Water Department, County of Santa Cruz, Resource Conservation District of Santa Cruz, Coastal Watershed Council and San Lorenzo Valley Water District, the theme of this year’s symposium is “Skyline to the sea: the past, present and future of the San Lorenzo River.”

Santa Cruz City Councilwoman Donna Meyers will moderate the event. Speakers include John Ricker, who will present the San Lorenzo River watershed management plan; Shawn Chartrand, on the topic of climate change and hydrologic effects in the San Lorenzo River watershed; Mark Strudley, on flood management in the watershed; Tony Elliot and Travis Beck, on the Santa Cruz Riverwalk and urban river parks management; Jodi McGraw, on terrestrial biodiversity of the watershed; Richard King, presenting recent findings in watershed puma research; Jon Jankovitz, discussing recreational steelhead fishery management in the watershed.

The event includes an optional interactive walking tour of the San Lorenzo River presented by Coastal Watershed Council river scientist Alev Bilginsoy, which will occur following the symposium from 1 to 2:30 pm.
